[TowerTalk] Orion OR-2300 - Removal of Drive Plate?

I have one of these, and it has given good service for 18 years.  It was just removed from the tower, and I'd like to clean up the rusty drive plate.

Is this easily removable without special tools or procedure?  There is an allen head bolt that holds the mast alignment guide, but what lies beneath I don't know, and the documentation gives no detail.
