Point of order...these tools are actually "Spark plug BOOT pliers" and they are used to remove the rubber-like cap from around the plug. They aren't strong enough to be spark plug wrenches that actually seat or extract the spark plug.
So, no, if you've tightened the PL-259 with Real Pliers (tm) you won't be able to get it off with these. The reason you use these in the first place is that you don't have enough clearance to get Real Pliers (tm) on the PL-259 to tighten OR loosen it. The heavy-duty boot pliers have enough oomph to get the job done in tight quarters.
Note - there are light-duty versions of boot pliers that are not hefty enough. They are made of lighter-gauge sheet metal and can't grip the PL-259 firmly enough while applying torque.
