Changing password doesn't stop the mail-ware. One method is to steal you  
addresses and use them where to send the mail. Adding your address is, 
according  to my son, an easy thing.
 
Changing password on a regular bases is a good idea though.

It's a pretty easy fix once you know you have been  hacked, just change your
email password.

Its kind of a dumb  spambot that sends those, the smarter ones pick a 
subject
from an old email  in the inbox they have taken over so it looks like an
interesting topic,  then surround the link with some interesting text to 
temp
you to click on  it.  So if you see a message with no subject and all it has
is a url  just delete without clicking... sometimes it is handy to reply
directly to  the sender, they may not know their account has been hacked.
