I've been using 30 ft pieces of 2", 3 " and 4" irrigation pipe for30 years.
Its cheap (used) and very light. It is not real strong so I guy it twice
with dacron. The only difficulty is making the reducers for each of the
different size pipes. If you have a machinist handy, they can be cut
from blocks of aluminum. You can also make reducers by sliding and
combining different diameters of Al pipe or tubing. One foot overlap is
plenty. I place one at the bottom of the inner pipe, and one at the top of
the outer pipe. For a base I use a 4" dia by 1 ft piece of ABS pipe as an
insulator, then use a 3/8" bolt as a pivot that goes thru 5" - 6" angle
iron or Al. These are mounted to my ground plate, plus the radials.
