I would suggest that you look up Jim Brown's RFI Tutorial at

  It contains a great deal of information on Baluns that actually work 
...IE: are very effective. There are 1:1, or current baluns and  other 
ratios as well.

It's very thorough so there's quite a bit of material that's well worth 
reading.
