My Rohn tower used to be part of a broadcast station - when I got it, it
was covered with wide stripes of orange and white paint. I rented a big
pressure washer to get the paint off, which it mostly did, and there was
no evidence that the underlying galvanized surface was damaged. I then
painted it with special primer for galvanized metal and followed with
ordinary latex house paint, and the finish still looks great 18 years later.
