I'm almost sorry that I'm the original cause of this thread on "name for 
the job"...

Ammeter is originally from Switzerland and everyone I've found with that 
last name traces their ancestry from Isenfluh/Lauterbrunnen near the 
Matterhorn.

I retired from Seattle City Light where I was the crewchief in charge of 
commercial/industrial metering installation/maintenance. Every time I 
introduced myself to a new group of people at classes and meetings 
someone would always ask if I got the job because of the name or the 
name because of the job.
