I'm pretty sure that it is generally accepted that 
threads/grooves/spikes/etc are not the solution.  It is better to 
maximize the surface area and generate uniform pressure over it. The 
wrap-around clamp design by the guy who refurbishes prop pitch rotors is 
a good example of that.
