I think I do understand the problem. Antennas and feedlines are passive 
networks, and follow the principle of reciprocity -- that is, they 
function the same on RX and they do on TX. Common mode current on the 
feedline fills in the nulls both on TX and RX, but has little effect in 
the main lobe.
