That pin feeds the 'slow down before you hit the stop' circuit.  The limit
switches activate before you get to the mechanical stops and reduce the
speed automatically so you don't hit the stops a full speed.

Can someone explain the functionality/use of the #6 pin on the
rotor/controller?  The manual shows diode steered  N.O. "limit switches" to
the motor windings in addition to the "normal" limit switches for the DC
motor.
