Jim,

I forgot to say that the line distributed parameters - R, L, G and C - 
are all directly calculable from Zoc and Zsc; to that extent you can 
then calculate the losses associated with R as distinct from those 
associated with G.

But of course the moment we talk about R, L, G and C we are assuming the 
line behaviour can be modelled a certain way ;)
