Well, yes, the most obvious reason would be comparisons between similar 
antennas, but another great reason to model an antenna is what you learn 
from it.  I've learned more about antennas from playing around with 
EZNEC (current distributions, performance plots, phasing effects, the 
effect of length and spacing changes on impedance curves, etc) than I 
ever did reading books on the subject.
