[TowerTalk] Antenna Choices

John,

You just beat me to the punch...I would also like to hear any input on the
TH-11 if anyone has or has had one up. I have one in my barn hopefully going
up as soon as things dry out a bit. I was looking primarily for something
with decent gain and coverage for 5 bands.

The best antenna I have ever had is a Telrex 4 el 20M beam. If you can find
one, buy it. It got me most of the way to #1HR in 18years.

Nobody mentions the HyGain TH-11. I bought a tower which I had to take down
and it had a TH-11 on it. I also had a 2el 40M (40-2CD) beam and an EF-180
80 M dipole that was a killer on 80, and also on 30M. It is kind of huge at
about 85ft long (linear loaded). After getting DXCC on 80, I took it down as
it is quite a strain on the rotator, etc. because of its tremendous length.
Great antenna through. Grant (KZ1W) owns it now.

Check the specs on the TH-11, and compare it on the bands it covers to the
3el and 4el Steppir, as well as the DB-18 and DB-36. Only the 4 el Steppir
compares on the bands that the TH-11 covers. Great antenna for the money.
