An interesting idea.  What steel rope are you using?  Since the hardline 
easily has the strength to self support off a Kellem 90' of itself, does 
the wire rope somehow cause the hardline to coil?  How frequently does 
your tower go up and down?

I always figure 8 flake my cables on raising/lowering my HDX589s to 
avoid the twist a circular loop puts into them and thought that might 
work with hardline for a limited number of up/down cycles before it 
failed.  I have loop guides at each section top.  The cable bundle is 
stiff enough there isn't much wind movement.
