I've never understood the rationale of "resistance" soldering.
It seems like the resistance of the PL259 is too low to
provide significant heating with any reasonable current.
OTOH, the carbon rods do have significant resistance and
seem to get red hot in the video.  It seems like there
is no purpose is having the current flow through the
workpiece.  IOW, why not just have the current flow
through one carbon rod and have the carbon rod pressed
against the workpiece?  Can someone explain this?
