802.11 wireless internet over that distance is quite within range for even modest gain antennas. I've done a couple miles with 802.11 radios with inexpensive yagi antennas. The problem is that the cheap WAPs you get at Staples no longer have a connector for an external antenna.

Steve,
"Under the driveway" is NOT difficult with the proper equipment. Ask
someone who does it for a living ... it's a short-time job, so might not be expensive.
