I think this is a great idea, Grant.

Would you agree, though, that a second Nord-Lock washer would be 
appropriate underneath the spacer, as well?

There are numerous 'fixes' including the use of safety wire and folding 
tab washers but the fact that the centering fixture must sit squarely 
over top of the bolt removes a lot of these options. Additionally, a 
second Nord-Lock may create a clearance issue within the cup of the 
centering device which may necessitate the cup's needing to be drilled a 
bit deeper.

I'll report back tomorrow after I purchase a couple of Nord-Lock 
washers.  The rotator's on the bench.
