[TowerTalk] Which Rohn thrust bearing to use

I bought a Rohn TB3 once and was not impressed by it. I could not turn the
first one by hand so Texas Towers sent me a replacement which I used for a
year in Aruba. I then bought a Create bearing which worked perfectly for
many years with a 2 1/2" mast. There is a recent NCJ article showing a new
TB3 replacement made by DX Engineering which looks to be an improvement
over the Rohn bearing however this will not work with your mast.

After many years of using a crank up I am switching to a Rohn 45 guyed
tower. I
plan to use my 30 year old laddermast to mount a Tennedyne original T-10 and
then mount my 2 el Cushcraft 40 above that by 9 feet. I am looking at Thrust
bearings. I used Fafnir bearings on the crank up but I am looking at the
TB-3
and TB-4 on the Rohn 45.
The laddermast is 2.25" so it looks like I need the TB-4 as the max on the
TB-3
is 2".

Is this right?
