I found that 3 feet high is better than 10 feet high. YMMV.

If your dominant noise is power line noise from a certain
direction, the shielded loop may help.  What I found with
beverages was that even the 400 foot ones showed directivity,
even on the AM BCB, but that didn't translate into much better
copy on 160 meter signals vs noise.  A low dipole with good
feedline isolation can often hear well.
