Tim, it is quite easy to homebrew PL259 connectors for 1/2" cable like
that.

The center conductor of the cable is very close to the same diameter as a
PL259 tip. There are copper pipe fittings made to splice 1/2" OD copper
pipes together at Home Depot or Lowes. One of these fittings can be used to
connect the OD of the rear of a PL259 to the OD of the cable. You can solder
the coupler and PL259 together. The other end of the coupler can have a
couple of hacksaw slits cut so the coupler can be slipped over the cable outer
and secured with a small hose clamp. The center pin of the PL259 should be
removed to allow the cable center conductor to become the new center pin.

Use plenty of copper to aluminum grease (also at Home Depot/Lowes) to
eliminate the copper to aluminum corrosion issue.

You could also use a similar scheme using a UHF female/female (PL258) to
derive a female fitting.

The first one will take an hour to fab and install. The rest about 5
minutes each.

I have some of these in use for over thirty years.
