It will work fine, but depending on the soil and the type of rain you
get, it will rust, fast, or slow, but will eventually need replacing.
Around here (central Mi) the soil would quite corrosive, but where I was
raised was a low hill of quality sand. Where I am now is right on the
edge of a abt 100 acres of woods with a pear base,That base extends
under some of my yard, So the plated steel would be a poor choice for me.

To me the multi conductor as suggested by, I believe N8de would work
well. When I was asking around while doing some networking, I was given
three partial, 1000 ft boxes of CAT5, The total of which was well over
1000 feet. The jacket was not UV resistant and failed quite soon. but
those tiny wires hold up well, but it is mechanically fragile. A cat 5
cable has 8 #22, (some even smaller) solid, or stranded wires. Both
are available. The solid breaks easily.

One post referred to installing radials as difficult. It doesn't have to
bee, but it likely will time consuming

There have been several posts in the past of devices that cur the soil
and planted the radial
