Rick, HansI play with cars since child, changing parts, repairing, modifications and lot morethose connectors are very good, I remember some brands or years add an extra silicon kind of greasein the connectors , like the Dow Corning  high vacuum grease with the right tool to crimp those pins will be fun  to use it.

Looks like you fund something.


Looks like that's used in cars all the time. As long as the green gasket is intact they last for a long time. They look like the connectors used in my BMW and I have kept my cars for usually 10 years. Now I have one from 2002.


Remember that the environment in a car is very harsh and connectors are BIG problems. If it lasts there it 
lasts everywhere. (I used car connectors in many electronic designs for maritime applications and was very satisfied and rarely complains from customers).


I never seen this in a ham application but think it would be a very good idea.
