[TowerTalk] Coax above ground

I will need to cut a path open for this cable route through trees. By the
time a kid with a dirt bike makes it to these cables, he will already be in
need of medical attention! The only other kids around here are deer. I
think I will probably go up to 6ft above ground, but 4x4 pressure treated
posts seem to turn into "bananas" after a while from the sun, so I though
keeping it short would help. Perhaps I should use gum poles instead.
You mention liability, which makes we wonder if the same kid trespasses and
drive into one of my tower's guy wires..... I wasn’t really planning on
fencing the guy anchor posts either since.
There will be a gate access gate with warning signs at the entrance to the
property.

Unless the entire property is fenced and posted, I don't think I would
run *any* cables at four feet above ground. The chance of an accident
is simply too great - along with the nature of the injuries that could
result. I would not have anything below about 8 feet (other than guy
wires which are unavoidable) and the low ends of the guy wires would
have "high visibility" covers.
The US legal system is a farce when it comes to liability these days -
if a "rich kid" out running wild on a dirt bike or ATV were to hit the
cable runs, even though trespassing, you could be responsible for the
injuries due to creating unsafe conditions.
I am not an attorney. Contact yours to make sure your interests are
protected *before* constructing anything that could be considered
unsafe.
