I don't object to this statement. Way to many ties do companies withdraw products because they are afraid of or already have legal action against them. 

Many times people get hurt because they don't follow instructions but they still sue. GE have had many products over the year that have been pulled back for sometimes know, many times unknown reasons. 

To mention one, GEVAC, some type of plastic used to seal small leaks in vacuum systems. Useful to vacuum well below 10e-10 torr. It just disappeared and their sales man had no idea why except it might have hurt somebody somewhere or did not comply to the environmental requirements in California. 

The statement "This product contains material that may cause cancer in laboratory animals in California" is very common and have frequently been joked with. A common joke is;" You better not use it in California then".

It is sad that so many products can't be use or even manufactured due to the impact they have when misused. For example, some time ago it was possible to get very efficient pesticides provided you have the licence and the right knowledge how to use them, but that's no loner the case as there were examples of misuse. The same thing with other products especially various for of plastics.

I don't object to the removal of dangerous products but when I see examples of products there the danger is misuse and not good replacement available I get annoyed.

On what basis do you say that?  That sounds like uninformed propaganda 
to me. And are you saying that stuff that causes cancer is OK? Is it OK 
to put lead and mercury in places where humans can injest it?

My wife and I are both scientists, she in the area of human biology and 
me an EE. I DO believe in science and the scientific method, and I do 
NOT repeat uninformed gossip.
