Jim, Paul, et al,
The Delta Loop is a great antenna if the bottom of the triangle is ON TOP. I
think Lloyd & Iris pointed that out years ago when they were in Richmond,
CA.

Probably not, but I will second the idea of adding an inverted V reflector.
Years ago I very successfully used 3 and 4 element inverted V wire beams on
20 meters. I currently have a 3 element up for 40 meters.

##  what else that works is a 1/2 wave sloper...with a delta loop reflector
behind it. 
I have see that used on 80m with good results.

##  the 40m array in the old arrl ant books..using  4-5  x 1/2 wave slopers
also
works good.  One is always a DE, the rest are REFs.   Simple + effective.
