There are plenty of other JPLers on TT who also worked on getting to 
Mars and various other places. While I won't say that JPL is thick with 
hams, there are a fair number of us around.

I believe that Pickering, JPL's first director, was a ham, as were early 
luminaries like Henry Richter and Eb Rechtin.
