Subject: Re: [TowerTalk] K7LXC replacement mast clamp for M^2 Orion
OR2800 rotator
Does anyone at M2 read towertalk? It should not be that difficult to
build a better mast clamp. BTW, K7NV also makes Orion mast clamps. I would
also use a Green Heron controller with the rotator, or better yet use a
K7NV prop pitch.

## m2 just doesnt get it. Their mast clamp is a dud, but will work for masts from
2-3 inches OD. The K7LXC clamp only works for a 2 inch mast. The K7NV
mast must be ordered for one specific mast OD, like 2 inch, 2.375, 2.875, 3.00
etc. The K7NV mast clamp is superb, same idea as the mast clamp he uses on his
Prop Pitch rotors. HUGE surface area on the k7nv mast clamp. You just barely tighten
it, and it grabs the mast firmly.
## The m2 clamp will work on any 2-3 inch mast..which makes it useful, albeit not a
good clamping action. It doesnt clamp at all, it tries and bites into the steel mast, which
is a poor design. You cant bite into CM steel.
