John Birken <k2sfs73 at gmail.com wrote about U-ship and shippjng tower on
flatbed.
I bought a UST HDX589 MDPL in Connecticut and brought it to my qth in
Northern Maine on MY 20' flatbed trailer.
After the tower was horizontal @ seller's qth, and disconnected from the
T-base a wrecker picked it up and moved it over to my pre-positioned
trailer. He then lowered it onto the trailer. I had pre-positioned 4x4s for
blocking in strategic places. After satisfactory placement verified I used
heavy-duty ratcheted "tie-downs" to secure the load in place. There was no
antenna to bring home, but if disassembled and wrapped-up, should be no
problem. Of course the nested length of this tower is longer than the 20'
trailer. The heavier part was forward. Red "flag" (i.e. old red shirt)
tied at back end.
I think you should supervise the loading and tie-down to your satisfaction.
Shippers do NOT know what you want or how you want it done. I would travel
to the shipping location just to make sure.
Hope this helps. Call me if you wish. Info on qrz.com
