OK, you ground system builders...
I have a couple of 10’ rolls of Belden 8659 copper braid.
It's made up of 1680 strands of #30 wire. It can carry 320 amps. Laying flat it's 1 1/2". 10 feet cost $13.80 in 1970.
That’s $86 today, NOT counting the incredible cost increase of copper, another factor of five or so ($0.50 to $2.50), making over $400!
Did I say heavy? It’s 3/0 ga, 1.75 ft/lb, so a ten foot roll weighs almost six pounds!
So I’m not going to get $400 a roll, am I?
How about $50/roll, of which I have two or three.
If you have a current pricing source, please share.
Georgia Copper lists 2/0 braid, about 3/4 the capacity of mine, at $8.50/ft.
Shipping will be $14 or so in a medium box. I don’t think a roll will go in a small box.
What a deal!
