[TowerTalk] noise profiles...

Well, remember: this is California. Growing is somewhat ignored if it is not massive. Our county has been changing its indoor grow rules, but usually a few dozen doesn’t even get anyone out of their chair. The outdoor grows are easy to find, so they just wait until harvest season, do a helicopter fly over, and decide who gets it. People rarely get popped for these smaller cases. My brother in law grew for several years before the big fire we had up here. And now that it will be legal in all cases it will be more of a zoning issue than anything.

I’m still hoping it’s the TV. Maybe I can convince him it’s “radiating” anyone sitting in front of it :^)

If that's the case, let him know (friendly advice in a non-threatening way) that his grow lights are generating a signal that can be heard on the radio some distance away, and imply (may actually be true, maybe not) that law enforcement is now using radio direction-finding equipment to track down noise that meets the profile as one of their methods for locating illegal growers. Then add that non-interfering grow lights are available, and maybe even supply the names or catalogues of some sources. If the guy has any smarts at all, the problem will quickly fix itself.

There is some good info at www.w0qe.com<http://www.w0qe.com> . I’ve got something similar (new in the last 2 months) at 1815. I’m in the midst of building a receiving loop to locate it. On in the late afternoon, off around midnight – 2AM.

I only have a couple of neighbors within a ½ mile so my job should be relatively easy. Getting someone to cooperate is a different story. One neighbor is a known grower (busted a couple of years ago) so he might be back at it indoors.
