My complete post included ..."  For long runs it is advisable to not run it perfectly straight, to allow for any small amount of movement...." to account for ground movement, in addition to thermal expansion/contraction, typically "snaking" the conduit runs to allow for all movement. If one is burying conduits in expansive clay soils, PVC conduit would not be a good choice for direct burial, as the pressure exerted on it from soil/clay expansion can crush it, making rigid steel conduit or precast concrete conduits a better choice, if one does not want to encase the PVC in concrete.
