[TowerTalk] CM Choke

Speaking of "tuning" a choke, couldn't you just run 50 watts into
a dummy load, and tee off a choke and a 100 ohm resistor to
ground, and calculate the impedance of the choke by measuring the
RF voltage across the resistor and the RF voltage across the
dummy load?

Hi Carol,

43 mix works fine for CM chokes, but it depends the frequencies
you need to cover.

Best procedure is to use a VNA and "tune" the choke for best
choke impedance over the required frequencies.

Basically the number of turns, diameter, etc.

I've been testing some 43 mix cores some days ago, and depending
on those variables, the choke will present the higher impedance
over different frequencies.

You can hava a look at next link;

I am sure more experienced colleagues will you explain further
next.

Hello all...

Quick question... I know 31 mix is better, but I have 8 cores, 43
mix. I
was thinking of 5 cores, 6 or 7 turns RG213 Or RG8X. Yes or no?

Carol
