there's a fair number of older HP VNAs (875x and similar) in the 
kilobuck range on eBay - I guess if you don't mind the large mass, and 
the CRT is in decent shape AND you have a way to get .s2p files out, 
that would be another way to go.

I think the modern USB pods in that same price range are probably a 
better deal overall.
