<Talking to the M2 Factory Tech Support today, apparently the DC motor,
<splined drive shaft and improved mast clamps came at the same time.

## I have both the DC version...and the AC version. They both have the splined shaft,
and both have the same, lousy mast clamp.

## The original rotor was called an ORION OR-2300. It used a keyed shaft, and an AC motor,
and a lousy mast clamp.

## When M2 bought out the rights to the OR-2300, they improved it with the new splined shaft,
and higher torque, 2800 vs 2300 in lbs. M2s version of the mast clamp was an improvement
over the original Orion OR-2300.

## M2 made ONE change later on, and switched from an AC motor to a DC motor. The square
control boxes look identical, except one outputs dc instead of ac. No point and shoot. Back then,
you could only buy both the rotor and box at the same time. Now you can buy the rotor separate
from the box.

## The K7NV mast clamp for the OR-2800 rotor is a real treat, but it only works for one diameter.
He can build them for any diameter you want. The K7LXC version is for 2 inch OD only.

## The oem M2 mast clamp is less than desirable, even though it looks heavy duty, and will work on
any mast from 1.9 inch OD up to 3.0 inch OD.

## The OR-2800, with DC motor, GH control box, and a real mast clamp is serious $$$.
