That's not universally true.  It is true for lead-based solders, but it 
isn't true for lead-tin solders.  It's the lead that disintegrates, byt 
the way, but it leaves the rest of the solder porous.  All of that is 
why I said to use lead-free solder in my post.   Plumbing solder works.
