You want to ensure the that the choke's self-resonant-frequency isn’t within 80m. I am using J.W. Miller 5252 chokes at the vertical base feed. Purchased from Mouser.
Prior to installing the Miller chokes on 80m and 160m verticals, high-voltage static was destroying my K3's SWR bridge Schottky diodes. Zero problems after the chokes were installed.

I’ve read/heard that an rf choke from the vertical to ground will help bleed off any static and help reduce noise levels on the vertical. For an 80m vertical, running 1200 watts, is the value/rating critical?
