I like to use a jumper at the top of the tower.

You cant reach the feed point on some antennas so you HAVE to have one.

Also, easier to hook the antenna up by putting on the feed harness and 
weatherproof on the ground. Not on top of the tower.

Then you can hook up to the main line going down the tower.

Use mating connectors, (UHF male and UHF female, or N-male and N-female) 
so you don't have to use and adapter. they seal it up well.

If you have to remove the antenna, then simply unhook the connector. No 
need to cut the feedline or install a connector at the top of the tower.

If you want to put the connection inside of a piece of PVC pipe for a 
"house" of the top of the connector, you are guaranteed not to have 
water in it.
