W1JCW's issue is probably antenna / feedline related so towertalk may be more appropriate. I tried to use an Acom 2000a on AI6V (sk) / P49V's SteppIR and it would not stay on even for a second. I am guessing that there was minor arcing in the antenna tape or other connection after being exposed to constant salt spray for several years.
