k9yc.com/RFI-Ham.pdf  has a lot of recommendations.

2-3 turns through a #31 core, with a lot of them in series, is a great 
start for 6M. A lot of long #31 cylinders or clamp-ons in a string is 
where I would start for 2M. A lot of #61 clamp-ons in a string for 440 
MHz. Study Fair-Rite data sheets and aim for at least 2K ohms resistive, 
more is better.
