Can’t speak for every gin pole pully  the Rohn 25/45/55 pully  is a 2” aluminum rolling on a through rod in it’s aluminum cast housing.
I also use a  IIX gin pole.  I use it for 55/65(10 ft sections) and AB105  and chrommolly  mast inseartions
IMO it still has a 2” ¾ inch MAX  pully wheel  it pulls  smoother then the Rohn one !!  nothing scientific  just my .02

I can confirm that. When I put up my Rohn 25 last summer, I pulled the
rope to lift the sections. I can tell you it took a whole lot more than
40 pounds of tension to lift them. Obviously, the pulley on the Rohn gin
pole was not one of the good ones.
