Indeed, they're probably over $100..
Another way to solve the problem is to use a service like
frontpanelexpress.com - you download their design tool, which lets you
design a "front panel" = a piece of aluminum sheet metal with holes and
cutouts in it. They have every imaginable shape and size cutout (Sub-D
for DB25 or DB9, 22mm round with 1 or 2 keys, D, Double D, etc.)
You upload your design file, your panel shows up less than a week later,
perhaps nicely labeled with engraved legends if you put those in.
Then you just bolt that into a rectangular hole in your box.
A quick look at their website shows that they make entire enclosures now
(built up from 6 panels). they basically have a CNC router that
machines panels.
