Talked to a local ham this morning who has one and keeps track of firmware changes.  He thinks the problem with higher frequency operation is because of lack of shielding in the circuit.

Probably, the 900 MHz comes from "that's the range of the oscillator"

I don't know if the software is susceptible to upgrade (and if someone will actually do that) - so the UI could get cleaned up in time.

For HF, things like sweeping a cable to find faults, tuning antennas, etc.
For those kind of applications one doesn't need milliBel (0.01 dB) accuracy, nor huge dynamic range _______________________________________________
