I've tried that, but find it's not quite what I want for routine
checks. From inside, I need to turn off all interior lights and/or
open a window to prevent glare. Turning off all the lights isn't too
irritating, usually, but opening a window in a Maine winter isn't
appealing.

It works well if I go outside but then I have to either change
footwear or deal with the water, snow, mud or whatever else gets
tracked in. The query about tower lighting came up because I'm
getting lazy and looking for an easier way.

With my present back yard lighting I can see the bottoms of the
towers nicely from inside the house if I turn off the brightest
interior lights or even just use my shadow against the window to
block glare. Since I've come that far, I want to extend it to being
able to see the antennas too. I think all I need is some exterior
lighting that can be aimed upward. I have a couple ideas to try now,
thanks to the excellent responses here.

Paul
