[TowerTalk] Can 1/4" or 3/8" Andrew SUPERFLEX be used for a Rotor loop?

I always heard stranded cables are more appropiated for that turning task, but I am not cable expert.
If you check bending radius, stranded cables have smaller radius than solid core.

I am turning LCF12-50 solid core cables for more then 40 years and never had
one broken.
RG218 with its solid 4.95mm inner conductor is turned as well without any
problem.

I would not use thin cable on 2m all the way from the shack to the antenna,
attenuation will be too high.

Superflex cable is called from the hard coax point of view, but this
Superflex has solid copper core. I think is not a good idea to keep a solid
copper core turning and un-turning it that ofthen, will break.

Best recommendation would be to use a really flex cable, but you can get
better cables than RG8/RG213.

Have you seen M&P cables?

Or Ecoflex?

I purchased some 3/8 Superflex with the same idea. I was talked out of the
idea, and now plan to run LFD4-50A up to the rotor, and DX Engineering 213
to the antenna. If it is good enough for K3LR, it is good enough for me!

Subject: [TowerTalk] Can 1/4" or 3/8" Andrew SUPERFLEX be used for a Rotor
loop?

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used 1/4" or 3/8" Andrew SUPERFLEX
all the way from your shack to the antenna, including forming the rotor
loop? I'd like to use a one piece Superflex cable from the shack to the my
VHF antenna including having it form the rotor loop. I'd locate a large
rotor loop in the middle of the rotor rotation range so the most the
Superflex would ever have to move is 180 degrees.
Please advise if this can be done with SuperFlex?
Thanks & 73,
Dick- K9OM
