I would agree. Not all Tailtwisters are equal.

I recently went to install one of my spares and discovered a 2" mast would
not properly seat in the upper housing. A 1.9" mast fit fine. I had to grind
down the "ears" around the U-bolt openings to get the 2" mast to fit. Of
several Tailtwisters I had on hand, only this one had the problem.

So maybe there are similar variations in the exterior dimensions.

You didn't get the same rotor back.  Different year, different upper
housing, or different rotor altogether.
