Even the original TH6 with the single driven element had the beta match.  I think the TH3 did also.  That must have been a bunch of trial and error since the TH6 has been around since the 1960s and I think NEC wasn’t around until the early 1980s.

I've had two. Good performance and strong.  Have an estate third "NIB"
original Telex for sale $500.  Not quite NIB since mice ate the box, but
stored inside since T0.  Don't want to ship it. DXE price now $1099.
