Actually Tashjian does sell a remote kit. There is nothing wrong with remote controlling your tower up/down if it’s done right. Yes, you will need at least two cameras at your tower. One facing the winch drum and one facing your coax run up the tower. The key is how your coax is supported and where it ends up with the tower retracted. We custom installed remotes on towers using Green Heron Everyware wireless with relays and trained owners how to raise / lower it safely. I will not do it on a tower without positive pull-down unless its a Luso tower which comes standard with a remote control. These towers however comes with a basket for coax and there are roller bearings between each section so it makes it much safer.
The other important thing is to frequently inspect your tower, cabling, coax and watch those cameras when you extend or retract your tower. If something does not look right hit the stop button immediately, go out and do an inspection.
Both UST and Tashjian has remote control options but it’s not just flicking a switch and walking away from it while it retract or extend.
Having said this, proceed at your own risk. We did a 100ft Tashjian for a customer and he has been remote controlling it for a while now with no issues. Cameras and winch speed is key!
