If I recall correctly there was a time between potted ends and Big Grips that wire rope clips were recommended for Phillystran. I had a few guys like this on my Rohn 65G tower while in Chicago. I still use wire rope clips for Phillystran boom trusses usually HTPG-2100I pr HTPG-4000I. Yes it crushed the cable but I have yet to have an issue with the Kevlar fibers plus using a Big Grip would defeat must of the purpose for having a non-conductive truss.

The preforms are not only the manufacturers recommended but they are not that expensive to do it right and above all safe.
Is it worth it to do it right.
