Jim, have you tried low horizontal antennas? Even though their response 
to low-angle signals is inferior to that of verticals, they might 
provide a noise benefit, especially when phased.

I finally got my message posted on the Topband reflector where I 
originally intended. (I discovered that it helps to be registered 
there!) So let me abandon this discussion and pick up anything remaining 
on Topband.
