I've been an active member of the AESSC microphone WG for 30 years. The 
real pro mic mfrs were always at our meetings. I never met Bob Heil or 
anyone from his company. The only important innovation I'm aware of from 
him, and it was a great one, was the vertical stacks for each instrument 
for a major rock band. The element in a Heil-branded mic that came with 
a K2 I bought used contained a $5 element, and sold for around $80.
